Andy Shauf Release Video For "Quite Like You"

Renowned singer-songwriter Andy Shauf has premiered a new video for his song "Quite Like You." The track is from Shauf’s acclaimed album The Party, which Q Magazine recently described as “a warm mix of late-period Beatles melodicism and Nilsson in his more melancholic moments.”

The animated video, featuring an alien house party, was directed Chad Vangaalen (METZ, Black Mountain, Holy Fuck) who said, "Andy's story was really easy to get inside of and hang out for a while, so I just sat right here in my drawing chair and decided what type of fashion the party mutants would be wearing. Tennis ball pedestal helmets will obviously be available soon-ish." Watch Via CLASH: http://www.clashmusic.com/videos/premiere-andy-shauf-quite-like-you

"I'm a big fan of everything Chad makes,” Shauf adds. “So I was really glad we could work with him on this video. We gave him free reign and he knocked it outta the park. I also didn't realize an alien party could be so emotional."

Shauf is currently on tour, with an impressive string of sold out shows on the West Coast, culminating in an Echoplex show this Friday, October 21st. This week, NPR's Mountain Stage announced that Andy Shauf would join Iron & Wine on December 4th in Charleston, WV, to celebrate Mountain Stage's 33 years of live performance radio.

The Party was shortlisted for Canada's prestigious Polaris Music Prize in 2016, alongside albums from an impressive list of artists that included Grimes, Carly Rae Jespsen, U.S. Girls and 2016 winner Kaytranada.

Critical Acclaim for Andy Shauf’s The Party

“The Party is definitely worth celebrating.” – Uncut, UK

"Canadian troubadour Andy Shauf is a find." - The Guardian

“The Canadian songwriter's hazy harmonies and easy keys belie the intricate concept of his fourth full album. Using sharp snapshots and strange characters, Shauf paints an endearing sketch of his house's many moods." – MOJO, UK

“An exceptionally fine record.” – Sunday Express, UK

"...nods to the 70s soft rock of Harry Nilsson or Josh Rouse's homage to that era...a real talent." - Daily Express UK

"The Magician is typical of Shauf's sound - a warm mix of late-period Beatles melodicism and Nilsson in his more melancholic moments." - Q

“it’s a baroque-pop exercise with echoes of Seventies smarties like Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman and Steely Dan, though rather more empathetic than them.” - The Independent, UK

“It basically sounds like Elliott Smith come back to life. In the 70's. It's... incredible.” - Indieshuffle.com

"A graduate of the school of Burt Bacharach, solo Lennon, Macca and Wings, The Carpenters, Harry Nilsson and Elliott Smith, Shauf can locate the game changing chord that great songs pivot on, for which lesser talents fumble in vain. The Party conceals killer lyrics in music of extraordinary beauty and lushness.” - Sunday Times, UK

“Shauf successfully portrays the complicated smogarsbord that is youth by capturing in its crudest form at a party, with its hedonism and heartbreak, and in doing so propels himself miles ahead of his singer-songwriter peers who have tried to do the same." – The Line of Best Fit, UK
