Joe Henry Performs NPR Tiny Desk Concert

Monday November 21, 2011

Celebrated musician and producer Joe Henry recently stopped by the offices of NPR’s All Songs Considered to perform a Tiny Desk Concert. The acclaimed musician set up on the office desk of NPR host Bob Boilen and performed a riveting four song set from his enthralling new album Reverie, which American Songwriter recently called “a raw, raucous and messy masterpiece.”

You can watch Joe Henry’s Tiny Desk Concert featuring the songs; "Sticks And Stones,” "After The War,” “Odetta”and “Piano Furnace”by going to: http://www.npr.org/2011/11/17/142471611/joe-henry-tiny-desk-concert

Henry is a multi Grammy winning producer with credits that include Solomon Burke, Bettye LaVette, Mose Allison, The Carolina Chocolate Drops and many more. Reverie is a raw and beautifully evocative album created when Henry and his fellow musicians convened in Henry’s hallowed basement studio for days of joyous sonic exploration.

Critical Praise For Joe Henry’s Reverie:

"An all acoustic work from one of America's best songwriters (not to mention finest producers)" – New York Daily News

Reverie is a mesmeric, all-acoustic invocation of it's title, creaky old acoustic guitars, yellowed piano ivory and the rattle and thump of bandaged-sounding drums conjuring a late-night jam at the junk shop" – Mojo

"His twelfth album sounds wonderful. Stirring and impressive." - Uncut

“Henry follows up the excellent “Blood from Stars”—a 2009 record that drew comparisons to the work of Tom Waits—with the equally excellent “Reverie,” an acoustic-based collection of songs that build on a blues and folk foundation but range as far and wide as any album this year. – New Yorker
