Lost In The Trees Latest Named Best Album by Wall Street Journal

Lost in the Trees’ latest album A Church That Fits Our Needs has been named 2012’s best album of the year by the Wall Street Journal. The record offers an imaginative and profoundly moving tribute to singer and songwriter Ari Picker’s mother, an artist who took her own life in 2009. While this might sound like a somber affair, it is anything but. On the record the group, renowned for combining symphonic elements of classical music with the accessibility of American folk and modern pop, utilizes rhythm as its own emotional language, never losing the propulsive inevitability and vitality of great rock and roll.

The Wall Street Journal writes of the album, “Mr. Picker's extraordinary arrangements for strings and choral voices find no precedent in rock and pop. The daring chamber music, solemn folk and aggressive percussion reflect and reinforce the pathos in Mr. Picker's lyrics in which he shares her suffering and celebrates her life as he struggles to understand and stumbles toward acceptance.”

On February 28th, Lost In The Trees will be performing at the renowned Lincoln Center of Performing Arts in New York as part of the center’s American Songbook series. For additional info and tickets go to:">>
