Lost In The Trees Profiles In Los Angeles Times

The Los Angeles Times has posted an interview with LOST IN THE TREES' composer/singer Ari Picker and is currently premiering the song "Fireplace," from the band's anticipated August 10th Anti- Records debut release All Alone In An Empty House.

Over the last two months, LOST IN THE TREES have been touring North America with Montreal's Plants And Animals, attracting praise from critics and audiences alike for their unique and moving sound merging the accessibility of American folk and pop with the dramatic symphonic elements of classical music. American Songwriter Magazine recently chimed: "The instruments intertwine with both tenderness and, when called for, rage to create mental images impossible to shake."

LOST IN THE TREES Live Reviews:

"Picker's voice soared on songs from both records, whose title tracks book-ended the performance: the hauntingly mournful 'All Alone in an Empty House' was the fulsome introduction, while 'Time Taunts Me' was a dramatically contrasting acoustic finale. But there was much in-between, which brought in additional elements of jazz and theater, while the jaunty, jagged 'Garden' was simply darn good indie rock, just with cellos sawing wildly." - AOL Spinner

Building on the strong foundation of Ari Picker's intimately crooned vocals and intensified by the whole cast integrating rambling, rumbling cries of their own, the North Carolina ensemble's short set steadily grew more complex as it progressed - this extravagance is also one of the band's unique strengths. Underneath lavish orchestration and the near hits-and-misses that come with going completely over the top lies an honesty in Lost in Trees and what they are trying to do. - Philadelphia City Paper

"Lost in the Trees is rootsy music that can also delight sophisticated fans of Morricone or Jack Nitzsche." - LA Weekly

"A minute into the opener "All Alone In An Empty House," Picker's septet commanded the crowd ,,, Picker's delicate voice... came to life and set the tone for a memorable show... Everything collided for a high-energy "Fireplace," and the band's complete set had enough weapons to avoid even a single dull moment." - The Herald Sun
