ANDY SHAUF PREMIERES THE PARTY
WITH NPR FIRST LISTEN

New Album Out May 20th / Tour Dates With case/lang/veirs

“Andy Shauf is a singer-songwriter with an ear for the sort of tender, melancholy songs that Harry Nilsson produced a world away in Los Angeles,” writes The AV Club. Today you can hear those songs care of NPR’s First Listen as they premiere Shauf’s brand new album The Party in full. Listen here: NPR.org

At The Party, the acclaimed young artist uses ornate arrangements of fuzzed-out guitars, string sections, clarinets and dreamy synths, all draped over delicate piano, acoustic guitars and rainy-day drums to masterfully create a cast of memorable and unique characters.

The Saskatchewan-based Shauf recorded his first album at home and toured Western Canada playing DIY punk venues with an acoustic guitar. In 2015 he gained attention with an album called The Bearer of Bad News that NPR called one of “2015's most breathtaking albums.”

Acclaim for Andy Shauf

"A graduate of the school of Burt Bacharach, solo Lennon, Macca and Wings, The Carpenters, Harry Nilsson and Elliott Smith, Shauf can locate the game changing chord that great songs pivot on, for which lesser talents fumble in vain. The Party conceals killer lyrics in music of extraordinary beauty and lushness.” - SUNDAY TIMES - UK

"The Canadian songwriter's hazy harmonies and easy keys belie the intricate concept of his fourth album.  Using sharp snapshots and strange characters, Shauf paints an endearing sketch of his house party's many moods.” - MOJO

Andy Shauf has been writing since he was 14, and his fourth album confirms a hard-won - if prematurely world-weary - wisdom.  Like its predecessors, it's full of stories, but presents a more ornate set, with clarinets to the fore, most notably on the magnificently lethargic opener, "The Magician," and the more sprightly "Eyes Of Them All."   "Begin With You"'s understated chamber pop hints at both Elliott Smith and new labelmates Wilco, while "Early To The Party", with its swirling strings , muted drums and unadorned piano chords, recalls Harry Nilsson's early '70s work.  The Party is definitely worth celebrating.” - UNCUT

Andy Shauf is currently on tour in Europe and set to open for case/lang/veirs on their anticipated tour this June.
