OKAYPLAYER PREMIERES MAVIS STAPLES’ NEW ALOE BLACC & JON BATISTE COMPOSED TRACK “TOMORROW”

M. Ward Produced Album Livin’ On A High Note Out February 19th

MAVIS!, the first feature documentary on the legendary singer, directed by Jessica Edwards, will debut on
Monday, February 29, 2016, exclusively on HBO
 

Yet another standout track from the new Mavis Staples album Livin’ On A High Note entitled “Tomorrow”  is premiering care of Okayplayer. The track merges a classic pop accessibility with the understated bravado of sixties R&B and Stax soul. It was penned for Staples by multi instrumentalist Jon Batiste and soul artist Aloe Blacc, who said of the project, "Mavis is a living legend! What an honor it is to have her iconic voice grace the song I co-wrote with Jon Batiste."
