SAINTSENECA UNLEASH “UPPERCUTTER”

Band Makes Anti- Debut With 7 Inch/Announce Live Dates

Having spent the past few years touring the Midwest house show/DIY circuit Saintseneca are now set to make their Anti- debut with the release of a digital single and 7 inch for their joyously harrowing track “Uppercutter” this October 15th.  Pitchfork.com recently reviewed the track, saying, “Zac Little writes stompy folk songs that are more artfully crafted than all the bands you probably just thought of when you read the words “stompy folk songs”... Little’s yawps still take center stage on “Uppercutter,” but Jones' layered harmonies and some eerie piano plinks imbue the song with a sonic fullness... When the instruments fade out and Little howls, “I was only one good time away,” it’s more of a gut punch than an uppercut."  The flip-side of the single features the frenetic post punk folk of “Visions.” Both tracks are from the band's full length album Dark Arc which arrives in stores March of 2014. Led by Appalachian native Zac Little, Saintseneca combine an array of acoustic instrumentation (balalaika, mandolin, dulcimer, Turkish Baglama, floor percussion) with more contemporary elements such as synthesizers, electric guitar, soaring vocals and a vibrant post-punk energy. Saintseneca follow in the footsteps of heartland bands who have sought to twist the music of the old weird America into new shapes – from the Violent Femmes to Neutral Milk Hotel – Saintseneca perform songs that sound both familiar and uniquely original.

Early Critical Acclaim For Saintseneca:

“It'll take tracks like Uppercutter by Saintseneca to drag your face away from the dirt, place the soles of your shoes flat to the floor. Into position. Prone, willing and able to start the fight back. Based on this song, you should keep an eye out." - TheFourohFive.com

“The Columbus quartet Saintseneca plays a stomping, shouting, harmonious, harrowing brand of folk music informed by frontman Zac Little’s Appalachian upbringing and the DIY circuit the group has been touring steadily for the past few years. Their debut LP, Last, was among Ohio’s greatest exports of 2011.” - Stereogum

“It is very easy to hear the immense soul and heart from this passionate four piece. Saintseneca are the type of band that can you deep and then mend the wound withinin the same song.” – Fromthebeard.com
