NEW SEAN ROWE EP HER SONGS OUT NOW

Multimedia EP Features Audio and Video Interpretations Of Songs By Modern Female Artists

‘This is the best cover of any of my songs that anyone has ever done.’ – Lucinda Williams

Sean Rowe has just released a new EP entitled Her Songs. The record and its accompanying videos document the acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitar player delivering acoustic versions of six compositions written exclusively by female artists - Sade, Cat Power, Neko Case, Regina Spektor, Lucinda Williams and Feist. The record and filmed performances combine to serve as an immensely powerful testament to Rowe’s interpretative guitar and vocal talents.

Initial reactions have been nothing short of phenomenal. Elmore Magazine wrote, “Rowe’s booming, resonant baritone infuses the tracks with an evocative, searing power. The best covers can re-frame a beloved song in a new light, and Rowe’s effortless masculinity lends a new tinge of remorse to the ballad, reminiscent of the iconic balladeer Johnny Cash.” Upon hearing his rendition of her  “Soldiers Song,” Lucinda Williams proclaimed “This is the best cover of any of my songs that anyone has ever done. I am completely moved.”  Watch the live clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2XqhGeEpBQ

Rowe recorded and filmed each of the tracks in a single live take, just his soulful baritone, an acoustic guitar and occasional harmonica, creating a multimedia document of the powerful interpretations. The videos will be offered to fans as part of the EP.

On his previous full length record Madman, Rowe showcased his skill as a songwriter.  GQ proclaimed the record “the kind of album that's at once recognizable and nothing like you've ever heard before.” With Her Songs, Rowe demonstrates in the studio what live audiences around the world already know: he is an unparalleled performer with the ability to transmit the emotional heart of a song with a powerful and intuitive simplicity.

“I think with all of these songs the writing is excellent,” Rowe says. “If you can cover a song with just a voice and a guitar, you know there’s something there. It really confirms my belief in how important space is in a song. And of being content in using very few elements to create something.”
