SON LITTLE TO JOIN LEON BRIDGES ON TOUR IN MARCH

Self-Titled Debut Album Continues To Garner Critical Buzz

The Village Voice recently wrote that the artist Son Little sounds like “a fusion of soul, trip-hop, and juke-joint blues in a jazz club in Manhattan - both raw and sophisticated.”  Meanwhile, The Bluegrass Situation raved, “Son Little is one of those artists who transcend time, place, and genre… Now, he's back with a full-length, self-titled effort that continues to muddy the waters that flow between the roots of American music.”

Fresh from his first headline tour, the genre defying innovator will be joining Texas sensation Leon Bridges for a series of high profile North American live dates early next year.

Son Little is performing in support of his acclaimed new self titled debut album. The record is, in its purest form, quintessentially American music. Born to a preacher and a teacher in Los Angeles, where he learned how to listen and how to play before moving east to New York and New Jersey.  Son Little dropped in and out of schools and scenes in Manhattan and then Philadelphia, where he collaborated with both The Roots and RJD2.

The songs on Son Little draw inspiration from the diaspora of American music to create something both familiar, recalling the warm vinyl of a beloved classic, while sonically rooted - with it’s staccato beats, echoing guitars and rumbling bass - in the present and future.

Acclaim For Son Little

“Sometimes troubling, frequently joyous, and always articulate and thoroughly individual, Son Little's cross-genre shape-shifting reveals more compelling nuances with each listen, and this is one of the most interesting and rewarding debuts of 2015.” - AllMusicGuide

"Son Little is the latest musician working on the cutting edge of R&B to make it wholly new and unique. “ - Boston Globe

"Son Little has been compared to Prince, and it's easy to tell why. Not only does he play and produce virtually everything on his debut album, but he's also an R&B/soul artist whose tastes and influences stretch way beyond that genre, to rock and folk.  A formidable talent.” - THE INDEPENDENT

"Son Little's self-titled debut album is nu-soul, not neo-soul, and the distinction is drastic. Little doesn't strive to reproduce his influences; he recombines them into something new.” – NPR

“There is R&B, and then there's rhythm and blues - which is what Son Little is giving us in his inspired debut! Masterful and beautiful and haunting! His vocals also have a timeless and almost feminine quality. It sounds as if you're listening to Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday!” - Perezhilton.com

"A potent collection of soulful new Americana” - NOISEY
