WILLIAM ELLIOTT WHITMORE’S ALBUM RADIUM DEATH OUT NOW

Flood Magazine Premieres New Video

William Elliott Whitmore’s new record Radium Death is now in stores. While previous recordings featured the troubadour’s powerful voice accompanied by just a banjo or acoustic guitar and the occasional foot stomp, Radium Death finds Whitmore backed by a full band on most tracks. “I purposefully went into it wanting to make a little bit of a departure, sonically, using an electric guitar a little bit more and adding more instrumentation, more full-band type stuff,” he says.

Whitmore was recently profiled by CMTPeople Magazine and Vice’s Noisey, who wrote that his songs “focus on the grandiose aspects of life (politics, redemption, death, What It All Means) but are presented with casual accessibility, sung by a titanic, gravelly voice that sounds like it’s from the year 1843.”

Flood Magazine is premiering a new Bill Adams directed video for the song “Healing To Do” with Whitmore and fellow musicians performing the rocking track situated in the living room of his late grandmother’s rural home.

Raised on a farm in Iowa and inspired early on by the insurgent sounds of The Jesus Lizard, Bad Brains and Minutemen, Whitmore sketched out the songs of Radium Death between feeding animals and tending crops. Every week he would travel to his cousin’s studio where they would record the tracks, much of the time with additional musicians playing along. As a result songs hum with an exigent electricity—whether amplified or not.  They also present a cohesive look into the recurring Whitmore themes of respect, protection, sustenance and survival.

Whitmore will be hitting the road for a Northeast & Midwest run in April that includes an appearance at Middle of the Map Fest in Kansas City, MO, followed by a West Coast run in May (all dates listed below).  Supporting William on most of these dates will be the Denver’s own Esme Patterson.
