Sean Rowe Makes Los Angeles Debut, Performs Songs From 'Magic' On The Madeline Brand Show

The talented and resolutely unique singer-songwriter Sean Rowe is currently visiting Los Angeles in anticipation of his Anti-Records debut album Magic out February 22nd. The increasingly acclaimed musician and avowed naturalist appeared earlier this morning on The Madeleine Brand Show on KPCC where he discussed living off the land, edible plants and the eating of road kill (he prefers mice over chipmunks.) Rowe also performed two songs from his album, utilizing his incredibly soulful baritone to conjure poetic images on his songs "Old Black Dodge" and "Wet."

The San Francisco Chronicle said of Rowe's soon to be released album, "Magic is quiet, dark beauty with a dash of dirge. When it comes to heartbreak, Sean Rowe performs the soundtrack" while My Old Kentucky Blog offered, "...it packs one soulful and powerful wallop. Each song is a hard-won victory; battered, bruised but not yet defeated. It's nearly impossible to hear Rowe's resonant baritone (particularly on numbers like Old Black Dodge) and not immediately be reminded of vintage idiosyncratic Smog or even the threateningly-personal records that Leonard Cohen fashioned early in his career... Keep an ear to the ground for this one.

You can listen to Rowe's performance on The Madeleine Brand Show by going here.

Sean Rowe will perform at The Hotel Café in Los Angeles this Tuesday 02-01 at 7PM.
