Sean Rowe Profiled On Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal is currently featuring a fascinating profile of the acclaimed singer-songwriter Sean Rowe. The piece, entitled "Out of the Woods and On To the Stage" details the evolution of Rowe's intertwining passions for nature and music in anticipation of his new album The Salesman and the Shark which arrives in stores this August 28th via Anti-Records.

The paper writes, "Mr. Rowe, 37 years old, still lives in Troy and goes out into the woods regularly to write about foraging and nature for Albany's Times-Union newspaper..... But his music career has taken off in the last few years. He's toured Europe five times and is building a reputation here in America thanks to his 2011 album, Magic, on Anti- records (home to modern masters like Tom Waits, Nick Cave and others)... Mr. Rowe's ringing baritone is as timeless as his approach, recalling the aforementioned label-mates as well as the ecstatic intensity of late-'60s Van Morrison and stark subtlety of late-era Johnny Cash."

You can read the entire piece by going here.

The Salesman and the Shark was recorded at historic Vox Recording Studios in Los Angeles utilizing the very same mixing board used to make timeless classics such as The Rolling Stones' Exile On Main Street, T-Rex's Electric Warrior, The Beach Boy's Smile and seminal works by Tom Waits, Neil Young and more.

Appropriately, the soulful and evocative sounds on Rowe's latest are a perfect blend of the warmly familiar and astonishingly new. The album is both ambitious and moving, a collection of songs that would feel perfectly at home on a cherished classic album, or as just what they are, a riveting tour de force by an important new talent named Sean Rowe.
