Yann Tiersen Brings Soaring Live Show To Los Angeles

KCRW 89.9 FM will present Yann Tiersen and his new album Dust Lane in a very special concert event on Saturday January 29th in Los Angeles at The Luckman Fine Arts Complex on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles. Dust Lane is Tiersen's recently released critically acclaimed North American debut (Anti-) which showcases a new and distinctly modern side of Tiersen, incorporating elements of progressive rock, post punk, atmospheric post rock and beyond.

A living legend, Yann Tiersen is one of the most acclaimed and celebrated musicians of our time. In addition to six incredible albums, including Dust Lane, his credits include the soundtracks to the films Amélie and Goodbye, Lenin. It's a prolific career that has evolved from volumes of inspiration, to volumes of genius. Tiersen's album Dust Lane, mixed by Ken Thomas (M83, Sigur Ros, Moby) was released in October 2010 on Anti- and charts a bold new musical course incorporating vintage electronics, electric guitars and lush choral textures into a joyful cinematic soundscape. This is an uplifting album and Tiersen says it's "a journey on the dusty lane that leads us to death. Not a sad thing, but like a colourful, sometimes painful, but mostly joyful experience: life!"

Critical Acclaim For Dust Lane:

"His gently intoxicating sixth studio album casts throbbing anger and raging lust into a dreamlike haze of shadowy voices, acoustic guitars, and analog synths. Tiersen best displays his artful ingenuity on the title track, which subtly champions a loss of control, and "Fuck Me," a sweet-sounding reverie that suggests ABBA gone horribly, intriguingly wrong." - Spin

"Teases both meditative sentiment and rousing emotion from an ambitious sonic palette; everything from solitary pianos and picked acoustic guitars to sweeping choirs, buzzing synths, chamber orchestras and full band rock-outs. At various times recalling The Flaming Lips, The Polyphonic Spree and even the original soundtrack to Hair, it's as compelling as it is mellifluous..." - MOJO ****
