Toronto Star gives Orphans 4 Stars!

Waits' purgative glory: Tom Waits' albums haven't always sounded as if they were recorded at the town dump. There was a time when the one-time piano bard's albums sounded like they were recorded at the neighbourhood bar. It's understandable, however, if that time seems like a distant ...

Globe And Mail gives Orphans 4 Stars!

Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards Tom Waits Rating: **** Tom Waits -- surprise -- has the most peculiar scrap heaps you'll ever wish to hear. The three CDs of Orphans collect batches of abandoned songs, cover tunes and songs that are written new, all grouped by style and theme. And it works more than an expansive set like this really ...

Orphans gets another 5 star review!

TOM WAITS - Orphans (ANTI-) Rating: ***** I’ve always hoped that Tom Waits would one day follow Dolly Parton’s lead and open his own amusement park. What better place to enjoy his music than a place where the night never ends, the Ferris wheel attendant is permanently smashed on rot-gut ...

Observer Music Monthly UK gives Orphans 5 stars!

Tom Waits, Orphans: Homicidal insects, Bukowski and Henry Kissinger all get the Waits treatment on a baffling but superb 3-CD set, writes Stephanie Merritt Rating: ***** Sunday November 12, 2006 The Observer 'What's Orphans?' asks Tom Waits, rhetorically, of his new three-disc, 54-song epic, in the accompanying 95-page booklet of ...
