WILCO REVEAL NEW ANIMATED VIDEO FOR “SUNLOATHE"

The Chicago rock band Wilco premiered a brand new video for “Sunloathe” today on wilcoworld.net. Director Peter Glantz (Andrew W.K., OK Go!) and illustrator Nathaniel Murphy created the animated video for the song from Wilco’s latest dBpm Records release, The Whole Love.

The video features more than 100 original drawings by Murphy which Glantz and his small Providence, RI team of animators illustrated to create a video that “reflects the complicated emotions expressed in the song, where we feel hope and sorrow coexist,” said Glantz.

Wilco’s U.S. tour resumes this week with two upcoming concert performances this weekend at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre on Friday, September 21 (Cibo Matto supports) and Saturday, September 22 (Jonathan Richman supports). The tour – Wilco’s last U.S. tour of 2012 - concludes on September 30 at the famed Hollywood Bowl. Wilco then heads to Europe in early October for one last touring leg of the year, with concerts in Italy, Spain and Germany. A complete list of tour dates follows.

About Nathaniel Murphy: Nathaniel Murphy is an illustrator and musician currently residing in Northern CA. Murphy has toured with Wilco since 2007 as part of the band’s stage crew, as Glenn Kotche’s drum technician. Murphy’s illustrations were included in the album packaging for Wilco’s 2007 release Sky Blue Sky. He created a film for Glenn Kotche’s “Monkey Chant” and is one half of the modular synthesizer duo Loft.

About Peter Glantz: Peter Glantz is a theater and film director who has guided underground and commercial performances in Los Angeles, San Francisco and his home base of Providence, RI. His independent interview series, We Can Do It! recently premiered online at wcdi.tv and his and Becky Stark's cartoon series Worldword! is coming soon to MTV's Liquid Television.
