Madi Diaz Presents New Single/Lyric Video, “Love Looks Different”

Madi Diaz “makes even the most immovable feelings open up with just a little time and space” (Pitchfork). Today, she returns with the new single/lyric video, “Love Looks Different.” Beginning with her emotive vocals in a filtered bath, “Love Looks Different” quickly evolves into another propulsive exploration of heartache, as only Diaz could assemble. “I cut off the limbs of my self-respect and I’m still looking for it now,” she confesses atop Sarab Singh’s driving percussion. Produced by Diaz herself, “Love Looks Different” strikes her signature balance of cathartic folk and anthemic rock, and follows the “crackling” (Stereogum) single “Hangover.”

"This song is combing out the last remnants of love that wasn’t working. I’m doing a final recount, laying out every piece, cutting off all the bitter and bad memories, and setting it off so I no longer carry every small detail with me,” Diaz says. “This time around, love feels less like a battle cry and more of a cry of total relief because it’s finally different. I’m still learning about everything that love is, but I definitely know what love is not.”

Following last year’s History Of A Feeling, her ANTI- debut and “one of 2021’s best kept secrets” (Rolling Stone), Madi Diaz was awarded the A2IM Libera Award for Best Americana Record before she went on to dazzle arenas on an acclaimed run of performances supporting Harry Styles, and make her television debut on CBS This Morning: Saturday. Next month, Diaz will embark on a headlining North American tour, beginning with a hometown performance at Nashville’s Basement East, and including stops in Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles and more.
