Marianne Faithfull has been forced to postpone six shows on her current European tour because of severe exhaustion. She collapsed just prior to taking the stage in Milan last night (Wednesday 1st December) and doctors have now ordered complete rest.
The shows affected are in Milan, Zurich, Linz, Vienna, Palma and Barcelona. All will be re-scheduled for the Spring of 2005. Health permitting, Marianne will resume the tour in Amsterdam on Friday 10th December. The concerts are scheduled to end at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Thursday 16th December.
Marianne’s exhaustion comes as the consequence of a gruelling work schedule that started with her summer stage performances in The Black Rider, director Robert Wilson’s celebrated and award-winning opera. The Black Rider played in both London and San Francisco – a total of some 100 performances – before ending in mid-October.
Marianne then immediately travelled through Europe promoting her latest album, Before the Poison, before starting the current tour in Iceland on 11th November.
